“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go. Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, for wisdom comes when you adore him with undivided devotion and avoid everything that’s wrong. Then you will find the healing refreshment your body and spirit long for.”
-Proverbs 3:5-8 TPT
When we enter this world, we embark on a crucial journey that shapes our thoughts, words, actions, and overall our perception of the world around us. This journey is known as learning. We acquire knowledge through our environment, culture, experiences, and both formal and informal education, including guidance from others and the materials we read. One undeniable truth is that we absorb the ways of thinking prevalent in our surroundings. These become the foundational building blocks of the philosophies or principles we choose to live by.
As we learn, we begin to feel capable and qualified to discuss various fields or aspects of life. We develop expertise in certain topics, often considering ourselves subject matter experts. Over time, we cultivate a general understanding of how life should be. However, as impressive as this knowledge may seem—and regardless of how long it took to acquire—it is important to remember that human wisdom is ultimately limited. The Bible reminds us that this worldly wisdom can come to naught (1 Corinthians 1:19), emphasizing that there exists a higher wisdom: the WISDOM OF GOD. As stated in John 3:31, "HE who comes from above is above all." This means that even with extensive education—such as earning multiple degrees—there is always more to learn and something higher.
This is why discoveries continue to emerge across all fields: knowledge is infinite. GOD created this world and everything within it. A CEO is recognized for their depth of knowledge and experience necessary to lead a company effectively. Similarly, GOD is the ultimate authority; He created all things, including us, which means nothing that arises from us escapes HIS knowledge.
GOD’s mind is revealed through HIS WORD, the Bible, which serves as a guide for navigating life. We are reminded not to rely solely on our opinions or past beliefs; what we once considered true may not hold today. In contrast, the TRUTH found in the Bible remain constant through time because they originate from the ANCIENT ONE and CREATOR of all things.
In our journey with GOD, we discover that science can be defied time and again—an axe head can float, and a couple aged 90 and 100 can bear children. We learn the true meaning of love and how it differs from lust. Regardless of what we've learned throughout life, there exists a higher understanding that guarantees true joy—a joy found only in GOD.
We also see examples like David, a skilled warrior who never lost a battle because he relied on GOD for guidance. He frequently sought divine strategies for warfare, and each time he followed them, he achieved victory—not merely due to his intellect but because of his dependence on GOD’s wisdom.
Recognizing that our worldly knowledge pales in comparison to who GOD is and the depths we can explore in HIM is essential. It is well-known that those who submit their understanding to GOD stand out as exceptional individuals. We see this illustrated in the lives of Daniel, his friends, and in Joseph as well — each became rulers in their respective lands due to their reliance on God's wisdom.
As we look ahead to 2025, let us strive for distinction by placing our trust in GOD; HIS ways and WISDOM surpass all human understanding. Seek GOD’s LIGHT for your path through HIS WORD. This will require daily engagement with the Bible, allowing your mind to be continually shaped by His truth. Ask GOD to help you because you cannot do it on your own.
Dear LORD,
I thank YOU for another day. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be distinguished by YOU and through YOU. Please help me to submit myself continually to YOU that I will walk in truth always in JESUS mighty name. AMEN.
