“So above all, constantly seek GOD’s kingdom and HIS righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.”
— Matthew 6:33 (TPT)
As we journey through life, we quickly discover that survival and success on earth require essential resources. Beyond these resources we call basic needs, we also encounter our wants—those desires that enhance our lives but are not necessary for survival.
Regardless of whether we are addressing needs or wants, it is crucial to remember that they never exceed GOD's ability to provide. Earlier in this chapter, Matthew 6, JESUS reassures us that the FATHER knows all our needs and encourages us not to worry. Instead, we should have confidence in HIS character, that HE will provide for us.
We were created for GOD's pleasure, and our primary mission on earth is to live in a way that pleases HIM, focusing on what concerns HIS kingdom. By doing so, we align ourselves with our FATHER's business and become HIS representatives on earth. One thing is certain: GOD's wealth transcends earthly limitations, and HE does not withhold any good thing from us (Psalm 34:8; Psalm 84:11).
While food and water are undeniably important, in comparison to the significance of the kingdom they are less important. This perspective does not diminish our needs; rather, it highlights that our earthly desires are secondary to the work of the kingdom. This scriptures lead me to reflect on my examination periods. During those times, I found that I received everything I needed to succeed - food, money, water, teachers- simply because of the path I had taken to pursue formal education. Similarly, GOD invites us to prioritize loving and being concerned about HIS kingdom, assuring us that HE will take care of our needs.
The King James Version renders this verse as follows:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of GOD, and HIS righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”— Matthew 6:33
The word "seek" implies an active pursuit, a desire or to go about. Our task is FIRST to go about and desire, prioritize, seeking the kingdom of GOD so that all other desires will be fulfilled. Through personal experience, I have learned that when one dedicates their mind and heart to pursuing GOD's kingdom, provision for every other need follows. The WORD of GOD is true!
You may wonder how to begin this journey. First, accept JESUS as your Lord and personal SAVIOR (The prayer is provided below). Next, share HIS message with others and pray for nations to come to know HIM. This vital mission cannot be accomplished without the help of the HOLY SPIRIT (Acts 1:8), pray and ask for the HOLY SPIRIT. As you strive to fulfill HIS will, continually seek HIS guidance to understand HIS direction for your next steps. We cannot do this without HIM; HE is the ultimate authority and the ONE with the blueprint for our lives.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for my life. I thank you for coming to die for me. I admit my sins and that I am sinner. Please have mercy on me. Today I surrender all and accept JESUS as my LORD and personal SAVIOUR. Please come and live in me and make me whole. AMEN
Dear FATHER,
I thank you for this great work you have counted me worthy to be a part of. I pray for the GRACE to first seek YOUR KINGDOM, that which concerns YOU most above my earthly needs because it is then I will experience the abundance of YOUR provision in my life! May YOUR HOLY NAME be praised! I pray for more of the HOLY SPIRIT in my life that I may be able to do all that is required of me.Thank YOU JESUS in JESUS mighty name.
