“The Lord is close to all whose hearts are crushed by pain, and he is always ready to restore the repentant one.” — Psalms 34:18 TPT
Throughout life, we experience painful events that can leave us feeling isolated. In these moments, we often turn to our friends and loved ones for comfort and consolation. While they do their best to support us and bring joy when they are around, their presence can sometimes feel fleeting. When they leave, the comfort seems to vanish, and even while they are there, their words may not fully address our pain. No matter how hard they try to say the right things, there are often words that can truly fill the void we feel—words they may not be able to provide.
God is our Maker; He knows us intimately. Many manufacturers are distant from their products once they are in use, as those products spread far beyond their reach. When we enter this world, we begin “functioning.” Unlike manufactured goods, God remains close to us—His creations. Just as products can malfunction, we too go through times that hinder our ability to function as we should. Sometimes, manufacturers may not even understand the errors and must return to the drawing board to investigate.
Thankfully, our God is never unaware of our struggles. He is never surprised by the events that unfold in our lives. In times of pain and heartbreak, He is near us; He does not step back or disappear. It can be difficult to receive the right words from others during these times because they may not truly understand how we feel. They might not have experienced what we are going through and therefore cannot offer the right words of comfort. Additionally, everyone grieves differently, so there is no universal formula for consolation. Yet God has experienced every trial we face through Jesus; He was tempted in every way and understands our infirmities and troubles.
"Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let's not let it slip through our fingers. We don't have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He's been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let's walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy; accept the help."
- Hebrews 4:14-16 (MSG)
David reminds us that even in our darkest times, God is present—unseen by the human eye but deeply felt by the heart. He is our ever-present help in times of need (Psalm 46:1), whatever that need may be.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” — Psalm 23:4 KJV
In your pain and brokenheartedness, remember that God is close to you. He is with you and has the help you need to see you through your struggles. You are never alone; His presence provides comfort and strength during your times of pain. GOD is the One who never leaves the one behind and be One who is able to help in all situations.
Father, I am grateful to have You by my side all the time and especially in difficulty. May I experience and respond to your leading and help in JESUS mighty name.
