“My word is like the snow and the rain that come down from the sky to water the earth. They make the crops grow and provide seed for planting and food to eat. So also will be the word that I speak—it will not fail to do what I plan for it; it will do everything I send it to do.”
— Isaiah 55:10-11 (GNT)
We came into this world because God spoke us into being. We exist because of God’s Word. There is also a word from God about our lives and destiny, as Jeremiah 29:11 states.
We go through various seasons in life. From time to time, we experience hope, either from a word we directly receive from God or a word He sends out to us through His servants.
Life gets tough. Many times, we question whether we will ever accomplish anything or if what God has said concerning us will work out. We tend to look at our lineage and where we come from, realizing that, historically, many haven’t succeeded in what we intend to do.
Zerubbabel faced similar challenges. Before him was the monumental task of rebuilding God’s house after Solomon had constructed it. Although there had been several attempts in between by others like Nehemiah and Ezra, the temple had been destroyed due to wars stemming mainly from the disobedience of the Israelites. Now, God had decided to make this work through Zerubbabel, giving him another chance to build the temple. Many others had faced opposition in this task; for instance, Ezra encountered resistance when Darius the First halted his work. It would have been easy for Zerubbabel to feel scared as well.
However, the Word of the Lord came to him. From the opening scripture, we recognize how God exhibits firmness in the completion of what He says—it comes to pass regardless. He assures Zerubbabel that whatever stands as opposition will lie flat, vanish, and not be remembered anymore.
Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, “This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you.”
— Zechariah 4:6-7, 9 (KJV)
We have also faced opposition in our endeavors. Sometimes giving up seems like a better and safer option. But today, God wants to assure you that the dream He put in your heart—to help others, liberate nations, and change negative narratives into positive ones—was from Him, and He will ensure it comes to pass.
Just as God sent Haggai and Zechariah to help Zerubbabel, He is also going to send people, materials, and resources your way to assist you.
Stay hopeful! God's Word is working things out in your life!
Father, I thank You that Your Word over my life is sure. I trust You and believe that You will send men, materials and resources my way to accomplish Your Word over my life. In Jesus mighty name. Amen!
