Discipline is painful. It’s restricting. It’s uncomfortable and many times when we are disciplined it will seem that we are hated, not liked and just being picked on. The Bible agrees that discipline isn’t pleasant and rather than condemn it, it tells of how beneficial it is either way. It produces a mighty harvest. It makes the one disciplined much much better than they ever were. It’s just like refining gold- it becomes better and better and better than it was before entering the furnace. Rather than assume you’re hated, believe that you are loved. The Bible says in Proverbs that the one God disciplines is that one He loves. So contrary to what we think, we go through discipline because we are loved. I know this because of the benefits it yields. God loves you and because of that He will correct you. Love doesn’t excuse rebuke. God loved David and rebuked Him for killing Uriah. Be assured God loves you enough to correct you.
Take a moment to Think and Declare
What have I been through or am I going through I consider unfair? Is this a form of discipline?
Declaration
Heavenly Father, thank You for the opportunity to be made better through discipline. I pray for grace to go through faithfully in Jesus mighty name.
