Bringing Light to the Upper East and West Region Of Ghana: A Solar Initiative
On Monday, November 21, 2022, a dedicated team member embarked on a significant trip to the Upper East Region of Ghana to distribute Luke Solar Lights. This initiative was made possible through the generous support of Tena International School, facilitated by Mrs. Surama King. Abigail Brazy Mensah received a package on behalf of the team, which included 200 Luke Solar Lights, with 100 lights in each box. Most importantly, we recognize that God made it possible through the contributions and support of everyone involved.
Targeting Communities in Need
The target area for this distribution was Salpiiga, a town located in the Bawku West District that has no access to electricity. Recognizing the urgent need for light in these communities, the team spent two days sharing the solar lights with residents after meeting with the TINDAANA (landowners) and the chief of Salpiiga on the first day. Each household in the community received one of the 100 Luke Solar Lights distributed, bringing much-needed illumination into their lives.
Expanding Outreach to Nakor
On Thursday, November 24, 2022, the team traveled to Nakor in the Upper West Region of Ghana, another area lacking access to electricity. After meeting with the chief of Nakor on Thursday, distribution took place on Friday, November 25. All households in Nakor received solar lights, providing them with a reliable source of illumination. This outreach was a testament to how God worked through us to meet the needs of these communities.
Impact on Communities
With all lights successfully distributed, both Salpiiga and Nakor now have access to solar lighting as they anticipate future connections to the national grid. Although there were plans to reach additional towns, it became clear on-site that the numbers were different from initial estimates.
The response from these communities has been overwhelmingly positive. This act of love and support has brought smiles to many faces, demonstrating the profound impact that access to light can have on daily life. We are reminded that it is God who enables us to make such meaningful contributions through your support.
